Prompt Response: like it crawled out from under a stone

studio2CB.JPG
I feel that this picture isn't as strong as my other pictures. This is because along with being rushed in time, the picture also came out a little blurry. However, the picture applies to my phrase because it looks as if she is crawling out from under a stone, like she is dirty and her hair being a mess. My picture came out well, but I would take some more pictures next time.

Studio:

studioCB.jpg
In my opinion, this picture came out really well. This is because, the lighting is very strong, as it portrays split lighting. Also, it looks very similar to the picture that I tried to copy. Another reason that I think I had success in this picture is because of the editing. In this picture, her face stands out and draws the attention to the split lighting. I like the light in the background that shows her hair on the right side.

Girl waking up in the morning
RubberBall Productions
I wake up every morning with my hair a mess and yawning every day. This picture relates to crawling out of a stone because it is used as a metaphor. This is because you can relate a girl with crawls out of her bed to crawl out of a stone because they both wake up with their hair a mess and no one caring about what they look like.

As I was coming down, I became part of the rock. I was coming out of this rock to tell everyone about my discovery. This picture has a literal interpretation of the phrase, like it crawled out from under a stone. This is because the man is physically coming out of the stone, from one of his rock climbing trips.

She was a mess, and she had no where to go. She slept in a rock, coming out in the morning when she woke up. Although, she didn't care what anyone thought of her. In my opinion, this picture relates to my phrase. This is because when someone crawls out of a stone, they are usually dirty and their hair is a mess. So, this girls hair is frizzy and she has dirt spots on her face from crawling around in the stones.

Woman crawling out of tunnel
Ilya Terentyev
Date taken n/a
The girl was not normal, she lived in a stone tunnel. Every day, when she woke up, she would crawl out of the tunnel, wondering where she was to go. This relates to my phrase because it is the direct interpretation that she is crawling out of a stone. I choose this picture because she is clearly coming out of a stone tunnel. Although she is not dirty, like I sometimes interpret from my phrase, I still connect this to my phrase because she is crawling.

I choose this picture as a person who I think is good. This is because the guy in the picture is clean, so he is usually nice and good. Also, he is smiling in the picture, which shows a nice effect to everyone. Lastly, because he has books in his hands, it seems like he gets his work done and stays on task, showing that he has a good appearance. The picture put together looks nice too because the colors are simple and they are very mute.

In my opinion, this picture show people who I perceive to be bad. This is because I feel like the children were not supposed to eat the cake, but they wanted a little piece of it. I think that as the parents of these children turned their back, the children stuffed their faces with the cake that they had in front of them. Then, when they turned their backs back to the children, the children stopped eating the cake, pretending to look good. Another reason I think the children are bad is because of the cake on their face, and their hands are crossed, pretending to be good. This is why I think the children are bad.

I choose this picture as a person who I think is happy. This is because, when I look at the boy, he seems happy because of the smile on his face from the big sub that his parents probably bought him. Another reason I think that this boy is happy is because of his surroundings. It seems like this boy's parents care about him and they have toys for him around the house. When the boy will take a bite of this sub, he will be happy that he got this much food. This is why I think this picture represents happiness.

In my opinion, this picture represents unhappiness. Noticing how this man is looking at his watch, I am guessing that he is late for an appointment, and he is going to get in trouble from the workers, and embarrassed. This man also shows unhappiness the way his face is positioned, looking at his watch. His face is wide and nervous, and he is breaking a sweat as he will have to rush to his appointment. If I were with this man during the time of the photograph, I would guess that he was screaming, showing an unhappy portrait.

When I look at this picture, I wonder if this model is a girl or a boy. I feel like this person is holding a secret from other people he knows. I think that this is a boy, dressed up in girl clothing, jewelry, and make up to hide who he really is. Another reason I think that this person is hiding a secret is because his facial expression is blank and he seems like he is hiding something.

She had nowhere to go. Stuck at home, with an abusive father, her mother disappeared six years ago. Dreaming for someone tto save her from the nightmare that was her life. Looking out, she often saw signals that could help. Fear was taking over; she d didn’t know whom to trust.
I feel like this photo was very successful. This is because the way the girl is positioned makes me wonder what is going on in her life. Also, the story fits the picture, also because of the alignment of the picture, and her facial expression. What I would have done differently, would be to take some different shots at other angles, to create a different story. This is what i liked about this picture.

Journal 5A:

1. When I went on vacation with my parents to Lake George, and we found this stream with big rocks near them. We sat around the stream and we were balancing on the rocks and swimming in the water. As my sister was trying to balance on the rocks, the water came and pushed her into the water.
2. I was came home from my grandmas, and I heard the phone ringing. It was my uncle calling, and he was talking to my mom about something. When they got off the phone, my mom told me that it was a surprise, but I guessed that we were getting a kitty. As my uncle came, I didn't see a cat carry-on. But finally, he brought her in, and we wanted to name her Tiger, since she looked like one. Instead, we named her Rosie.
3. Back in 2011, my soccer team was qualified for the state championships against Simsbury in the fall. The day before the game, we all went over Deanna's house for a pasta party. All night, we were constantly eating pasta so that we had a lot of energy for the game the next afternoon. When I woke up on the game day, I was so excited, because every time we played Simsbury, we would tie. As we got onto the field, we all had butterflies in our stomachs, it was game time. At the start of the game, I noticed the enormous amount of people that came to support us, many from Newington. As the game went on, Simsbury scored first, making it 1-0. Then, later in the half, our forward scored, making the score 1-1. We all stayed strong for the rest of the game, and at the end of the game, we had to go to two 10 minute over-times, and no one scored. Both teams were left as Champions, and we wait for the next time we play them.
4. I went on vacation with my family to Poland, and we were going to my aunts house for dinner. We were all sitting around the table eating her home made food, when my cousin wanted to go outside to play tag. My whole family was over and we had a big game of tag where we ran around the whole neighborhood.

Project: Low Depth Abstraction

pillowCB.jpg
I feel like in this photo, I was very successful. What I like about this picture is the depth that it has, showing that the pillow case is further back instead of the picture taken right on. Also, I like the color of the pillow case and how it the depth cuts off some of the shifts to different colors through the depth. What I could have done better on this picture, is to take some more pictures at different angles.

Project: Light as Subject Matter

lightshadowCB.jpg
In this photo, I feel like I was successful, but I could have worked on it a little better. What I like about this picture, is the way that the shadow of the light against the wall extends and is in a funky shape. What I do not like about this picture is how the left side is very dark, and then as it goes to the right, it is very like as if a sun was blinding someone. Another thing that I would change about this picture, is the editing. I would change the editing because I feel that it is over edited.
shadowcalanderCB.jpg
In this picture, I feel like I was also successful. This is because I like how the lights are at an angle, and the calendar is hanging at the end of the lights. What I also like is how the lights are in a different shape then how they are on the wall. I also like the angle that the lights are coming in. What I do not like and what I would change would be how dark the edges are compared to the center. I would change it so it is a little less dramatic.

Girl Blowing Soapbubbles
Date Taken n/a
In this picture, there are some things that have happened and are happening. For example, there is a girl blowing into a plastic bubble maker. There are also bubbles coming out of the bubble maker. This picture captures a good timing because usually, bubbles pop as soon as they are blown, due to wind and sometimes when children pop the bubble. To get a good timing of a bubble, you have to have the perfect timing so that the bubble is not too small, but also so it doesn't explode. As you can tell, this picture of a girl blowing bubbles has perfect timing, because the focus is based on the bubbles and the bubbles are all blown, not popped.

This is a picture of a man skydiving. This picture has good timing, because many things happening at the moment. For instance, the man was just being pushed out of the plane, and he is most likely scared and excited. What is happening, is the man is sticking his arms and legs our to be slowly falling to the ground like a plane. Something else that is happening is he is feeling many things, which causes his face to have a different reaction. His facial expression is different and shocked that he is actually sky diving. It shows perfect timing because it captures his emotion just as he is falling out of a plane.

What I think happened is that he came to his hotel from a long flight, and he has been tired and frustrated through the whole flight, that he can finally take a break and relax. This picture represents timing because the man is about to jump on the bed, officially starting his happy vacation. In this moment, his reaction is happy is timing captures his vacation moment.

This picture is a glass of milk that is about to spill. This is a good example of timing because the glass has not broken yet, and also the milk is not spilled on the table yet. What probably happened is someone put the glass on the table wrong, and it started to tip. What is happening is the milk is making its way into the air and onto the table. What will end up happening, is the glass will be broken on the table with the milk all over the table and the floor. This is a good timing picture because it captures the glass before it shatters.

In this picture, there is a man who was riding his bike, but did not realize that there was a steam in his way with a muddy bump, and he seemed to fall into the stream. What happened is that the man was riding his bike, what is happening is that he is falling into the steam, and what will happen is he will most likely get hurt and be wet on his journey back home. This picture represents good timing because is it capturing the moment of him in the air, falling into the stream. If the photo was any earlier, it would not capture him in the air. If the photo was any later, then he would already be in the water and it would not capture the humor that this man will bring back home to his family.

Journal 3: Utilizing the Frame/Rule of Thirds

My favorite pictures from this journal is the, "Happy Baby with his Mother," and "Caprese Sandwich." I like these pictures because They both show the Rule of Thirds the best. In, "Happy Baby with his Mother," the mother and child are off set to the right of the picture. Another reason I like this picture is because the little baby looks happy in the mothers arms, and also the ocean in the background makes the picture fit together. The other picture that I like is the, "Caprese Sandwich,"because it looks like a very simple, put together picture. In this picture, the sandwich is is the right of the picture. Another reason why I like this picture is because the red tomato stands out from the light colored sandwich and plate and white placemat underneath. This is why I liked these two pictures.

Foggy Night in the Forest
I choose this images to represent Light vs. Dark. I am interested in the image because it is a very cool picture. I like the way that the light comes through the other end of the trees and creates a dark layout on the tree in the front. Also, I like the way the light and dark creates a foggy theme in the back. The design of this picture resembles nature, because of the trees and leaves on the ground. It also resembles light vs. dark because of the darkness of the dree and the light seeping through the trees in the background. In this picture, light is the subject matter because it causes your eye to look at the tree in the front and the light in the background causing a foggy effect.

I choose this picture as an example Shadow. This is because the light from the sun is causing a shadow on the poles and the stop sign. I like this image because it is in black and white and I like the way that the sun causes the poles to create a shadow on the ground. I also like this image because is looks like a calm place, since there are no cars. This place reminds me of a vacation I once took to Florida. One time, when I was crossing the street, I remember the sun causing shadows just like in this picutre. Also, the surroundings looked the same. Light is the subject matter because it is casting a shadow.

I chose this image because it is a good representation of reflection. This is a picture of a nice place to walk around to clear your mind, which is very relaxing. The mountains and trees are reflecting against the water, creating a beautiful picture. I am interested in this picture because I have always wanted to go on a walk like this near a mountain and lake. I think that this picture was taken around the early morning because you can see the light shining from the reflection of the water. The light in this picture is just about neutral, because there is light in the sky but there is also darkness around the mountain.

Football Trapped in a Goal Net, Close-Up
I choose this photo because my favorite sport is soccer. Also, when I am on the soccer field playing, I always think about scoring and this picture shows how the soccer ball is hitting the net. This photograph was shot in action. The emotion that I get from looking at this picture is happiness. This is because whichever team scored the goal may have just got themselves a spot in a championship or won a game against a team that they never thought they could beat. I could relate to this because whenever I shoot the ball and I see it flying in the air, I always imagine it hitting the back of the net just like it is in this picture.
